Every year we are stunned and inspired by the generosity of our friends and corporate supporters. The 16th Annual Cancer for College Golf Classic raised over $200,000 for the charity.  For those of you who attended the event in person, you got to meet some of the amazing survivors who are directly impacted by our efforts and the generosity of our supporters.   We'd also like to thank all the corporate sponsors, donors and volunteers who make this event possible.  We already have several exciting events in the works for 2010.  We promise to keep you informed of all our activities as we move forward. Thanks to our host Will Ferrell and his wife Viveca Paulin, our sponsors, donors, guests and volunteers who made the event possible! __________________________ CHANGING LIVES Cancer for College works to change the lives of cancer survivors and help them reach their dream of a college education. At this year's event, we heard the inspiring words of perpetual scholarship recipients Christine Pechera and Andrew Sternlight.  We also saw the audience spontaneously raise $25,000, lead by our auctioneer Viveca Paulin, for one-time scholarship recipients Melanie Hansen, Sabrina Rowe, Alicia Varenas,  Kelli Vigorito and Brad Connors.  This effectively turned those scholarships into multi-year scholarships! __________________________ SOME HELPING HANDS... It's not only corporate donors and generous participants that play an important role in the success of our event, it is our incredible volunteer base too. The Cancer for College Golf Classic utilizes over 50 volunteers including Delta Tau Delta Members from USC, Gamma Phi Beta girls from San Diego State and Hooters of Rancho Bernrado. The event also receives generous product donations from companies like HP (lap top computers for the scholarship reciepients), Monster (energy drinks for the players), to companies like Extreme Signs & Graphics that once again provided all the printed materials, event signs and banners at the event and Bogey Pro which produced all the humorous tee signs. Cancer for College is a registered 501 (c) 3 charitable foundation recognized by the State of California.  Since 1993, Cancer for College has been providing hope and inspiration to cancer survivors by providing college scholarships.

• Over 300 golfers participated
• Nearly 600 guests joined us for dinner
  
• Over $25,000 raised during the live auction
• Over $30,000 raised in through the silent auction
• Over $160,000 raised through the entire event
• There were 20 new perpetual scholarship recipients at the event
• There were 12 past recipients who returned this year
• Cancer for College granted over 350 scholarships in 2008
• More than $250,000 in total scholarships given
